Dental Procss Explained: What to Expect on your First Visit
At Sydney Smile Doctor, we believe that every person is
different. And every tooth is unique.
When you come to us, you can expect a fully customised smile journey. Not something mass produced and ready to wear. Like a bespoke tailor, we measure and design your new smile to fit and reflect your individuality perfectly.
Here’s a quick outline of our process: from your first consultation to your complete smile transformation.
1st complimentary
smile consultation
At your first visit, Dr Andrew will do a full examination of your teeth and discuss what you want to achieve with your smile – at no cost.
This appointment is about listening to you and your concerns, so that we can appropriately tailor the treatment to you.
We’ll take a full set of photos and refer you for an X-ray (which can be done at your convenience locally and is bulk-billed by Medicare).
The X-ray will help Dr Andrew ascertain what treatment options are available to suit your needs.
2nd complimentary
smile consultation
About 1-2 weeks after your first visit, you’ll come in for your second consultation – again, at no charge.
After reviewing your X-ray and photos, Dr Andrew will discuss all potential options for treatment, outlining costs and providing all the information you need to make an informed decision.
You’ll then have the opportunity to discuss flexible payment options and plans with our treatment coordinator.
Scan and
clean
Once you’ve chosen your treatment plan, we’ll do another set of photos, a full mouth digital scan, dental charting and any other examinations we might need.
After that, we’ll thoroughly clean your teeth to prepare them for your next treatment.
Dr Andrew will design your new smile and get a mock-up of the final teeth ready for you to try the next time you come in.
This gives an indication of shape to ensure that you’re confident we’re heading in the right direction.
Preparation and
practice run
Once you’re happy with the mock-up, we’ll get you settled back in the chair.
Dr Andrew will conservatively prepare your existing teeth to fit your new smile – taking great care to protect your original tooth structure and health.
You’ll leave this appointment with a set of temporary teeth or “temps” – a practice run of your smile.
Details and
finishing touches
Walking around in your “temps” is a great opportunity to confirm they’re right for the new you.
Dr Andrew will now tailor details to your specifications in the final teeth, to ensure perfect colour, size and shape.
With your temporary smile in place, you’ll meet our master ceramist, Mr Grant Davis, at our partner laboratory – so he can craft your final teeth.
And… get
ready to
smile!
Once you’re happy with how your new smile looks and feels, Dr Andrew will cement it in place. We’ll also give you a night guard to protect your new smile.
At these final appointments, Dr Andrew will take your “after” photos and share aftercare tips and recommendations – to ensure your perfect smile stays strong and lasts long.
